Ambassador Babar Amin is a former career Diplomat who recently retired in BS – 22, after 33 years of meritorious and devoted affiliation with the Foreign Service of Pakistan.He also served for two years with the Government of Punjab as a PSS Officer, in the Services and General Administration Department, as well as Industries and Mineral Development Department, prior to joining the Foreign Service.Some of his significant assignments abroad included serving as Ambassador of Pakistan to Norway with concurrent accreditation to Iceland, High Commissioner of Pakistan to Australia with concurrent accreditation to Fiji, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. He also remained Consul General to the Chinese provinces of Guangdong (including Shenzhen), Fujian, Hainan, Hunan, and Guanxi; Deputy High Commissioner, High Commission of Pakistan to India, Counsellor at the Embassy of Pakistan Beijing and Deputy Head of Mission accredited to the UN Offices in Vienna as well as IAEA.Served as Pakistan’s first ever National Coordinator/Additional Secretary for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO); besides serving as Director General (Policy Planning and Public Diplomacy); Director General (ECO and CARs), Director General (China & SCO); Director Southeast Asia Pacific and Director Foreign Secretary’s Office, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.Besides dealing with foreign policy issues, Ambassador Amin has vast experience of facilitating cooperation in economic, trade, tourism, social development, education, science & technology, and health sectors. He gained immense experience by working with the CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) as DG (China) and CG Guangzhou. He was also instrumental in establishing pragmatic collaboration in higher education, vocational training, B2B IT engagements, as well as showcasing opportunities for Pakistani professionals, doctors, pharmacists, nurses and paramedics in Australia and Norway.Held administration, finance, human resource and protocol management positions in many Pakistan missions abroad as well as at the Ministry of Foreign affairs In the capacity of Head of Mission, remained the Controlling Officer and Principal Accounting Officer.
